On Tuesday, 17th December we celebrated our annual Christmas Mass in the school. It was a really special occasion with the pupils singing the traditional Christmas Carols accompanied by Miss McCarthy on piano and Mrs. Goulding on guitar. Thanks to Fr. Brendan who celebrated the Mass and to Mike for his help. Tea, coffee and delicious treats were served afterwards by the very hardworking members of the Parents’ Association.

Sliabh a’ Mhadra took on a very festive look on December 18th with staff and pupils wearing their Christmas Jumpers to school. €362 was collected and was sent to Crumlin Children’s Hospital. A very special visitor also came to visit!!

We were delighted to have Maria Garcia Diaz in our school for 6 weeks before Christmas. Maria, who is from Madrid in Spain, was staying with a local family. While here, she joined 5th Class each school day and made many friends.

The Parents’ Association want to thank everyone most sincerely for the fantastic support of their recent bake sale in the school.
Many thanks to all those who donated baked goods and everyone who attended on the day. A big thank you to all the parents who helped out in any way.
It proved to be a very successful day and a total of €950 was raised which will be used for the benefit of all the children in the school.

Congratulations to Ellie Boyle, 6th class, who won third prize in the Chapter 23 Credit Union Art Competition in Manor West Hotel recently. Ellie is pictured here beside her beautiful picture. She received a cert and a trophy. Also pictured with Ellie are John O’Regan of Clanmaurice Credit Union (left) and John Long of Chapter 23 (right). Well done Ellie!
