It’s nearly time for the Parents’ Association Annual Sponsored walk.  The walk has been a great success over the years and those attending have thoroughly enjoyed getting together for the walk.

The walk will take place on Saturday 18th May at 11am.  We will walk to the Water Tower and go down to Mac’s Cross (just past John Enright’s), over by Coole, out onto the main road at Timmy O’ Connor’s shop and back to the school.  Please remember to wear high visibility clothing. Children should walk with their parents and not run ahead.

All students who complete a card are in with a chance to win a Smyths Toy Voucher.  There will also be a prize for the pupil who brings in the most money.  Sponsored cards will be distributed to all students next week.

Dust off those sneakers and we look forward to seeing you on the day!

‘Proud to be Irish’ was our theme this year and everyone made a huge effort to dress up in the green and gold. Conditions were perfect for the parade and everyone was in great spirits. Our senior pupils performed their marches brilliantly and added greatly to the occasion. We are very proud of them. Many thanks to our wonderful parents who helped out on the day.

Engineers week 2019

Engineers week 2019

Engineers week was a very enthusiastic and productive week in Sliabh a’ Mhadra. It was an opportunity for children, teachers and parents to explore the fun world of engineering. Many thanks to Dairymaster for welcoming our 5th and 6th class pupils and for the lovely goodies they got to bring home!

An engineering competition was run in the school for children from 3rd to 6th. Children could make a boat, a plane, a bridge or a rocket. It was a huge success and culminated in a showcase of all creations for everyone to view. It was lovely to have so many parents come and visit the showcase as well.

Each participant had to talk about their design and was awarded a certificate for their efforts. A trophy was presented to the winner in each class but it was Alex Freemantle from 6th class, with a brilliantly designed suspension bridge, that scooped the overall prize. Well done everyone!

Check out many of the wonderful exhibits and the winners….
