We are delighted to welcome our 20 new Junior Infants. They have settled in very well and we wish them many happy years in Sliabh a’ Mhadra.
Today, the Staff and pupils of Sliabh a’ Mhadra N.S. joined with the local community in a Mass celebrated by Fr. Brendan Walsh P.P. at the Cillín in Kilmore to remember all those buried there but in particular, Alfred F Wheelhouse whose body was washed ashore there following the sinking of the Lusitania in 1915. Mr Wheelhouse, a marine engineer on the ship, was buried in an unmarked grave in the Cillín.
A plaque was unveiled on the wall of the burial ground to remind all who visit that he is laid to rest there. The sun shone for the beautiful ceremony as the pupils from Sliabh a’ Mhadra played their instruments and sang hymns with a sea theme. Thanks to all who attended and helped in the preparations.
Congratulations to our 6th class pupil, Adam Segal, on being chosen to represent Kerry in the Cumann na mBunscol Primary Game 2016.
Adam, wearing No. 7, played for Kerry during half-time in the Kerry v Clare Munster semi-final in Fitzgerald Stadium today and scored a super point! It is the third year in a row that a pupil from our school has been selected.
Well done Adam – a fantastic achievement!
One of our 6th class pupils, Kieran O’ Sullivan has been busy making stop motion videos using an iPad. He has put a lot of time and effort into creating short animation clips using model machinery. Click here to see his work Jobs on the Farm
Well done Kieran!
