The Parents’ Association Annual Sponsored Walk took place on Saturday the 23rd of April. It was a beautiful spring morning and walking conditions were perfect. Everyone was in great spirits and enjoyed the walk as well as the get-together. Many thanks to everyone who raised money for our school.
We are so proud of our girls who scooped 1st prize in the Kerry final of Scór na bPáistí which was held in Foilmore on Sunday 17th April. The girls put on a spectacular performance in the Rince Fóirne competition and were thrilled to win with such strong opposition. Having come 2nd on may occasions, it was the first time in 16 years that dancers from our school won this competition. A big ‘thank you’ to everyone who came to the homecoming that night. It was a perfect ending to a fantastic day! Well done to Honor and Mrs. O’ Dwyer for all their hard work in preparing the girls.

Classes 4th, 5th and 6th went to Banna Strand today for the State Commemoration of Roger Casement. It was a spectacular occasion and one that will live long in the memory.
There was great excitement in school today when Rian O’ Carroll’s Grandad, Stephen O’ Carroll, arrived with new baby chicks! Hopefully the chicks weren’t too traumatized as a result of their visit!!
The sun shone in Ballyduff on St. Patrick’s Day and a great crowd gathered to watch the parade. The theme we chose for this year’s parade was ‘The Easter Rising’ and we proudly marched through the village in great spirits. With flags waving and our school band playing, we commemorated the heroes of 1916 and the ordinary people who lived through such an important chapter in the history of our country. Míle buíochas to our Parents’ Association for all their hard work and support. Well done everyone!
We fondly remember Batt O’ Connor who played the role of St. Patrick so well for many years in Ballyduff and who sadly passed away during the year. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dhílis.
