Congratulations to our wonderful Parents’ Association for a fantastic Hallowe’en Disco Party on Friday 30th October at the school. A lot of hard work and energy went into preparing for the night and it was a huge success! Thank you to D.J. Big Jim who had everyone dancing their feet off and enjoying themselves.

Our school was a very spooky looking place on Friday 23rd October! It was our annual Hallowe’en ‘Dress up for Barnardos’ fundraising event. There were witches, skeletons, monsters, ghosts and superheroes everywhere! A total of €155 was raised and great fun was had by all.

Two very special visitors came to our school today – Sergeant Denis McGarry and Gunner Noel Lynch, members of the Irish Defence Forces. Their mission was to deliver the Tricolour and a copy of the Proclamation of the Irish Republic to our school.
This very memorable occasion is part of a national initiative by the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht to commemorate the Centenary of the 1916 Rising in 2016. Sgt. McGarry read the Proclamation to the children. He explained the history and symbolism of the Tricolour and the etiquette attached to its display and storage.
During the ceremony which followed in the school yard, the Tricolour was formally presented to the Vice Principal, Mrs. Wallace and the children sang Amhrán na bhFiann. The flag will be raised on March 15th 2016 which has been dedicated Proclamation Day in all schools across the country.

We celebrated our annual ‘Healthy Eating Week’ in style this year! We wanted to highlight the importance of physical exercise this year so everyday at 12.00 it was ‘Drop everything and exercise!’ to cool music over the intercom. It didn’t stop there. During lunchtime the 6th class pupils put all classes through their paces in the yard to the strains of music booming over the intercom. What a fun week it was! Thank you to our parents for your continued support in encouraging healthy eating habits amongst our children.

All-Ireland fever hit the school today with everyone wearing their county colours in support of our Kerry Senior and minor football teams. We also used the occasion as a fundraiser for the Syrian refugees. A total of €237 was raised for this very worthy cause. Well done to everyone for making such an effort!
