Radio Kerry!

Sliabh a’ Mhadra will feature on the ‘Brendan Fuller Show’ on Radio Kerry on Friday 10th February at 3.10pm. Brendan visited our school today and our pupils had to explain why they deserved to win a ‘homework voucher’. The audio clip of our interviews will also be available to listen to, on the ‘Brendan Fuller afternoon show’ Facebook page. Many thanks to Adam O’ Neill and his mother Muireann for entering the competition!

Clanmaurice Credit Union Quiz 2017

Clanmaurice Credit Union Quiz 2017

The annual Clanmaurice Credit Union schools’ quiz took place in Causeway sports hall on January 29th, 2017.  Sliabh a’ Mhadra was very well represented with 2 under 13 teams and 4 under 11 teams. All teams put in a great effort and we were delighted when one of our U11 teams emerged victorious –  T.J. O’Sullivan, Hannah Ludgate, Oisín O’Callaghan and Conor Donegan. They lead from the start and at the end of ten rounds were the highest scoring team with 50/60 points. There were 52 teams participating. Our U11 team will represent Clanmaurice in the Chapter Final in March. We are very proud of them!

Trish Flavin R.I.P

Trish Flavin R.I.P

We are deeply saddened by the sudden, unexpected death of Trish Flavin, mother of Caoimhe (5th class) and Oisín (Senior Infants), who died suddenly on the 7th of January. We cannot begin to imagine the grief of her family, Ray, Aoife, Caoimhe, Oisín, Fiachra and Bronagh at this sad, shocking time. Please God they will find some comfort in the precious memories they have of their beloved wife and mother.

Old Mother Hubbard’s Christmas Pantomine

Old Mother Hubbard’s Christmas Pantomine

In true panto style, this super performance by Centre Stage Theatre Co., Belfast entertained and thrilled our Junior and Senior Infants and 1st class children in St. John’s Theatre in Listowel .

In this tale Mother Hubbard runs a very posh Bed and Breakfast with her faithful dog Growler and her willing helpers Little Jack Horner and Old King Cole. Old Mother Hubbard makes Santa a Christmas pudding and this together with Growler’s bone is stored in her magic cupboard.

However a sneaky Witch with a passion for sugar turns up and suddenly the cupboard is bare! Little Jack Horner, Prince Pippin and Old King Cole do their best to help and with the help of the very enthusiastic children in the audience, Growler eventually gets his bone back, Santa gets his Christmas pudding and Candice the Candy Witch gets what she deserves. A highly entertaining show!
