Congratulations to Mira Danielak (6th class), Caitlyn Kirby (4th class) and Sarah Carroll (3rd class) who won prizes in this year’s Listowel Writers’ Week competitions.
Mira won 1st prize of €175 in the Creative Writing Competition for 12 years and under which was sponsored by Kerry County Council. She will be presented with her award at the Official Opening Ceremony on Wed. 31st May at 8.00pm in the Listowel Arms Hotel. She has also been invited to attend the “Winners Readings” event in the Listowel Arms Hotel on the 1st of June where winners get the opportunity to read their winning entry from the ‘Listowel Writers’ Week Winners’ Anthology 2017’ to the audience.

Caitlyn won a prize for a book review which she wrote on “The Hounds of Penhallow Hall – The Moonlight Statue” by Holly Webb. Holly Webb, a children’s author, is one of the authors coming to Listowel Writers’ Week. Caitlyn’s prize was a pass for everyone in her classroom to go to see Holly Webb in Listowel on June 1st.
Sarah won a prize in the Dan Keane Memorial Primary Schools’ Poetry Competition. This is an annual competition which is run as part of Listowel Writers’ Week. Sarah’s poem ‘The Star’ won her a Highly Commended Certificate which will be presented to her at an Awards Ceremony in Listowel Community Centre on June 1st.
