We are deeply shocked and saddened by the death of our much loved SNA, Majella Egan who died suddenly on the 9th February. Majella worked as an SNA in our school for the past 6 years. She was like a mother to all children in the school – tying laces, patching cuts, zipping up coats, drying tears and always ready to help out. The whole school gathered together on Monday morning for a very touching prayer service in her memory. We were joined by her father Brendan, her brother Roy and his daughter Abigail, her close friends, Dawn and Norma as well as many parents. It was beautiful. At her funeral mass our pupils sang and played music in her honour. Our hearts go out to her family on their huge loss. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam dílis.

5th and 6th class thoroughly enjoyed their sewing sessions with Tricia. They learned many sewing skills and produced some lovely pieces. Many thanks Tricia!

This week we were delighted to welcome Garda Keith Maher and Detective Aidan Carey (parent) to talk to our pupils. They spoke about the role of the Gardaí in the community, the equipment they use, how to become a Garda, the different divisions of An Garda Síochána, safety online and substance abuse. It was very informative and children especially loved trying on the hand-cuffs, the jacket and the bullet proof vest! It was a very worthwhile session and thanks to Aidan and Keith for giving of their time.
