Congratulations to our 6th class pupils who graduated on the 25th June. We are very grateful to Fr. Brendan for celebrating a lovely mass with us. The 6th class entertained us in music and song and told us of their fondest memories from their years in Sliabh a’ Mhadra. Many thanks to Stella Fealy for another magnificent cake which she made especially for the occasion. The cake was cut by Callum and Abbie, the youngest boy and the oldest girl in the class. The array of food prepared by Ciara Moriarty and the Parents’ Association was incredible! Flowers were presented to Ciara Moriaty and Sandra Carey for their magnificent contribution to Sliabh a’ Mhadra. It is with great sadness we bid them farewell and we thank them most sincerely for all the work they did for our school while Mikey and Callum were with us.

Fifth Class pupils travelled to the Men’s Shed in Ballyduff each Thursday in June and learned how to grow vegetables and herbs on raised beds. They also were shown how to grow tomatoes and flowers in the polytunnel.
The pupils are pictured at the Men’s Shed with parents Karina O’Carroll, Ann Moriarty, Neil Slattery, Aine Toomey and Mary Kearney who participated in the project as well as their teacher, Breda O’Dwyer.  Many thanks to Catherine and Mary who instructed them and Anthony O’Carroll from the Men’s Shed  who organised the project.

We were delighted to welcome the 2019 Kerry Rose, Sally-Ann Leahy to our school last Thursday. There was great excitement in the school when she arrived. Mrs. O’Dwyer presented her with a bouquet of flowers and we sang the Rose of Tralee for her. Dylan O’Carroll from Junior Infants made a lovely picture for her to wish her good luck in the competition!

Our very own Maya Nolan, from Senior Infants, is a Rosebud for the 2019 Festival! She was delighted to meet Sally-Ann and was also presented with a rose. Sally-Ann met lots of her cousins in the school. She got a big surprise when she met Jack Galway whom she used to babysit! He is in 6th class now. Her mother Mary Barron(RIP) and her grandparents, Mick and Baby Barron (RIP) all attended Sliabh a’Mhadra in the past.

Sally-Ann will make a fabulous Kerry Rose and we wish her the very best of luck!

The Cumann na mBunscol hurling final was held in Abbeydorney on Thursday 13th June. It was a thrilling final and unfortunately we were narrowly beaten by Rathmore. Teachers and parents were very proud of the display by our boys. Thanks too to Fr. Brendan for supporting us on the day.
