‘Lego hour’ kicked off this evening after school under the guidance of Robert O’ Callaghan. Children from 1st and 2nd class were invited to take part in ‘Lego hour’ which runs for the next few weeks. In the session the children got to make different lego sets with their friends and also enjoyed making their own creations. Robert’s two sons, Oisín and Rían, were also on hand to give help whenever it was needed. This was a great experience for lego lovers and many thanks to Robert for giving of his time.

This morning was the start of WOW season. (Walk On Wednesday) Many of our pupils took advantage of the lovely morning and walked to school. Children from Green Schools all over Ireland show their support for a greener, healthier environment by taking part in Walk to School Days. This morning children from Junior Infants to 6th class were dropped off at the cross or McHales timber yard and walked to school from there. This will continue every Wednesday, weather permitting. Teachers will supervise from 8.45 am.

Sliabh a’ Mhadra came 2nd in their group after losing out to Abbeydorney in extra time. Then onto the semi-final where they played Ardfert who had topped their group. Lost the semi-final by a small margin. Great team performance, team spirit, sportsmanship and a credit to the school on the day! Thanks to Ms Wren, Ms Spellman and Sarah for taking the boys to Causeway. Everyone had a fantastic day.

We were delighted to welcome All-Ireland Champions to the school recently. Congratulations to Jack Galway, 5th class, who claimed All-Ireland glory at the National Boy Boxing Championships in the National Stadium in Dublin recently. Jack (11) who is only boxing a few months, competed in the Boy 1, 72Kg category. He came out on top after a thrilling and exciting match. Great credit is due to his trainers in Ballyduff Amateur Boxing club – John O’ Regan and Frankie O’Brien. Ballyduff Amateur Boxing Club had 2 other winners at the event – Charlie Fitzgerald and Cathal Enright. The club has now won 14 national titles in thirty years. A great achievement! Well done to all!
